I was just going to mention the PA Game Commision requires ammunition used for deer must be .25 caliber or larger.
So the 243 or any other 6mm center fire cartridge is not allowed?

I can't find anything in title 34 regulating caliber for deer. All it says is it needs to be a "center fire" round. There was a vote last year to set a limit at .24, but it never passed. Seems like the "no .22" thing is a hunting camp legend. I had an uncle who swore by .222 years ago. Killed plenty of deer with it over the years. I think either choice would work fine. Personally, I'm a lever gun fan, so that would be my choice. Get some good .45 colt ammo and have at it.

I downloaded a copy of the 21-22 hunting digest.
I did a search for the word caliber and 38 times the word was found.
Each time, it dealt with Special Regs Areas, Small Game, Muzzle Loaders, Bear, and Elk.
Nothing about the regular rifle deer season.

I will hunt with my 243 and pay the fine if I'm wrong.

I recall that fro years ago, but admit it may have changed since I read *the guide*.
    What*s the current rule?
So my 22LR and a spotlight is illegal?

I believe you have to be driving at minimum a 30 year old truck and be holding a PBR at the same time by the letter of the law for that.

It has been "Centerfire rifle" since I can remember. .17 centerfires were legal. Lots of guys used 22-250 and .222. I pull out the .22 HiPower once and a while.

Me, I would go with a .223. I have used Remington Corlokt 55 gr factory ammo on deer. Never know when you spot one on a long oak flat or on a power line.

Use one of them for Buck season and the other for doe season.
