Sure but you have to sleep some time, so you're going to have to rely on proximity alarms. Lone wolf is great if you don't have to worry about defending against other groups that want to take your stuff. Even if you have 1000 rounds, that's 333 bodies you have to deal with. Eventually it'll start to smell.

You were talking about a time when things began to settle down, and it was beyond SHTF time. Most likely you will not be entirely alone, you will have some family or close compatriots to provide round-the-clock security, or at least notice, of marauders. You are going to want more than 1000 rounds for the extended event.

That's the thing with these "fantasy" scenarios - everyone has their own definition of SHTF and their choice may be a terrible choice in someone else's vision of "SHTF".

Certainly true. I have some AR's, and several K of ammo, and I don't intend on moving very far from my home. I'm no SAS Commando.

My wife is always looking at "dream home" stuff online "for when we win the lottery." (which we rarely play)

She will ask me "What do you want in our dream house?"
My answer is the same every time... "Gun tower". LOL

Speaking of a gun tower, an old buddy of mine, who is fairly well heeled, bought a farm and turned his silo into a heated, well appointed, 360°, deer stand/gun tower, complete with flush toilet. No elevator, just steps. You command a hell of a view from the top of a silo.

Torn between WASR10 and Savage 24 in .22 wmr/20 ga. Give me my Glock g22 with 9mm conversion barrel and plenty of ammo and mags for defensive purposes and I'll go with the Savage OU.
