Which ONE Rifle SHTF?

I read the series of articles over at WRSA talking about what the progressive liberals have planned for conservatives.

A long read, but worth it in my opinion, if only for discussion's sake. That got me to thinking. I know this topic has been covered before, but I started an intellectual exercise with myself. If SHTF and I needed to grab only one do-it-all rifle for the foreseeable future, one that I need to know like the back of my hand, and be really proficient with - which one would it be? It needs to be useful for urban, suburban, and country environments, easily maintainable and completely reliable. Accurate and effective in a wide range of scenarios.

First, which caliber? 5.56, 308, 12 gauge, 7.62 x 39, something else? How do you value ammo weight vs effective range vs availability? Then which rifle? AR, AK, Tavor, Mini 14, HK91, M1A, 870?? Does it need to be somewhat concealable? Scoped, red dot or iron sights? We can leave off the pistol discussion for now since in my opinion that decision might be somewhat less critical. So what do the resident POOFA gurus think? What's your go to selection?

For a fighting scenario, AR-15 in 5.56 / .223. I have mine equipped with a solar powered Red Dot sight and a 3x magnifier.

If this is a more survival type situation requiring longer than a couple of weeks off the grid, I would grab my 10/22.

I'll go with the .223 and in any semi auto configuration....

I was thinking the PS90 with the Five Seven pistol combo but ammo would be the major issue. That is my SHTF setup at home because it's short, light and holds 50 rounds easily.

For long term or off property I was thinking AR15 but honestly I'd probably grab my Scar instead chambered in 308. I think it would be easier to find ammo for than the AR since pretty much every hunter has it laying around.
