    Default Remington 700 Question

Question for some of the "experts" here. I have a Remington 700 with the factory detachable mag in 7mm rem mag. I am looking at a wood stock to replace the factory synthetic stock. The wood stock requires a BDL style model. Is it just a matter of sapping out the bottom metal on my action to a BDL style to accommodate the wood stock?

Having read your post yesterday and again today, I can*t be sure of what you are asking.

Typically one modifies the stock to fit the action. I have taken a stock from ADL configuration and opened it to BDL configuration. I have also taken stocks ( wood plastic or laminate) in ADL or BDL configuration and opened them up to accept AICS bottom metal.

I have also added BDL bottom metal to ADL rifle to fit in BDL stock.

However I would never modify metal to fit a stock.

An easy way to go is to go to a stock manufacturer (Boyd*s Stocks come to mind) and order a stock in you choice of wood or laminate or colors, to fit a 700 long action with factory DBM ( detachable box magazine).
