About 20 years ago, my aunt passed away. Her son, my cousin was doing time in a Pennsylvania federal prison. My aunt's funeral took place in Brooklyn, NY.

The prison allowed my cousin to attend the funeral. They blocked traffic and cleared the building. They put men on the roof and set up a perimeter. The funeral director said he'd never seen anything like it.

He spent about 45 minutes in the building by himself with a chaperone. Then they loaded him up and left.

I don't think this prison did any of that.

I was in the emergency room of Wayne Memorial up in Honesdale a few weeks back. Apparently it was shift change for the Corrections Officers who were sitting on an inmate. As the two Officers walked through, not one of them had a firearm or taser. In NY we always transport with weapons. What is the deal with that?

Maybe they were protecting a terminally ill prisoner.

IN my experience corrections officers in direct contact with inmates don*t have weapons. So whoever rides in my ambulance doesn*t have one.

    The people following behind, do.
