I firmly believe that you should have at least one firearm for every year that you have been alive.....I'll be 75 in September.

If you have so little that they'd feel wronged by only 1 going one way vs. another... You need more guns 49 vs 50 isn't a big deal.... 3 vs 4 might be

I have 3 sons who are in their 30s now. I have taken them to the range over the years but none has any interest or passion for guns. It might change with age but nothing now. I figure if they ever want one, they will buy.

I know I replied earlier in this thread, but reflecting back on the guns I have sold - only (6) of them I regret letting go.

    1. Marlin Camp 9
    2. Marlin Camp 45
    3. Marlin Model 93 (.32Win Spl)
    4. Winchester 94 Trapper (.45Colt)
    5. S&W 1500 (.222cal)
    6. Winchester 94 (.30-30)

Most were sold to pay some bill or get my work car back on the road ....to pay bills.

I've given away far more guns than I've ever sold. Back in the mid-90's I probably bought close to 40-50 Ring-of-Fire handguns, of which I gave to family and friends as gifts. (used to be able to score them for $20-$75 all the time in FL) The only one I know where it is located now is the one I gave to dad, it now is about 13" from my knee as I type this.

The camps and the trapper made me cringe and they weren't mine.

I think it depends on what the guns are that you have as there are some I would say that you should NOT sell no matter what (unless you REALLY need the $). I know a few of the guns my friend bought (all rifles) are now selling for 4-8+x what they paid for them between 2005-2009. That is an amazing ROI, much better than you would have done in the stock market! Also, these guns are tangible, not making any more of these (mil surp) and MANY of the ones that are out there are being used and lots are getting beat up - which will increase the value of any gun that is original and in good condition.

Now if you have 10 generic AR's or AK's like the build of the week from PSA, I'm doubting those are going to be increasing in value (at least with today's political situation) like other more unique guns.

If you can afford to hold on to them, I'd suggest you do this. I know people who hated guns until in their 40's or 50's and then they found out they loved them and have dumped 10's thousands into them. Maybe your kids will be like this & they will appreciate that they were once yours. Guns are also a great thing to hand down w/n familes or even to close family friends - or even selling them to them at a nice family/friend discount! I'd much rather sell it to someone I know & not make as much than to sell it to a stranger! (on the condition they weren't going to just resell it.....)
