What do you want done? That answer might help point in the right direction or even some DIY instructions.

Thanks for getting back to me. I have a US&S 1911a1 with a "gritty" trigger and a mag release button that that doesn't seem to disengage properly. It's a looker, not a shooter, and maybe I should just leave it alone!! Your thoughts?

It may be as simple as needing cleaned and loved a little. I would make sure whoever you send it to is skilled and only does the minimum amount required to keep it original.

Second what Josh said and add a little bit more. Not everybody that claims to be a gunsmith is qualified to work on 1911's especially one as valuable as yours. Around here we have a bunch of supposed gunsmiths, they call themselves that because they can put together an AR-15.
Your problems as Josh pointed out may be nothing more than needing a good cleaning and some lube. Check around and see if you can find an old timer that understands the 1911 or look up book or website on cleaning and maintenance.
