Default Ever had an ND and what did you learn from it?

    I'll start.

    Yes, I've had one. One.

It was actually when I was 'qualifying' at a new gun club on the indoor range.

The guy doing it had me use his gun - a target competition .22

He warned me it had a very light trigger. He wasn't kidding!

As I was bringing the gun up/on-target I started to put my finger on the trigger prematurely. Bang!

Thankfully it was already pointing downrange, though well off-target and it SURELY fired before I intended it to.

What I learned was obvious - no finger on trigger until you're absolutely ready to fire.

I never had one. I learned to live vicariously through those that have.
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

I've twice been the victim of NDs with BB guns.

I bought an ancient bolt action shotgun with a bad sear that had been recut by the previous owner. It discharged when I closed the bolt. I learned how to better evaluate used firearms.

I have. My Ithaca model 37. You can hold the trigger down and pump the action for more action. It was the ND that let me know it worked that way. Luckily I was only breaking the finger on the trigger rule. I was shooting and planning to shoot again but not at the instant the action closed.

LOL. It was not an ND, but I've learned that lesson the hard way: As a young'n decided it would be a good idea to hold a soda can in my hand and shoot it with BB pistol. Turns out BB at close range WILL penetrate two layers of aluminum.

Does putting a .22 cartridge on a rock and hitting it with another rock, resulting in permanent scar on base of left thumb count?
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

I'm gonna go with "no". That was stupid, not negligent.

Nearly as stupid as shooting yourself in the hand with a BB gun. :-)

How about wanting to fire off the load in a flintlock rifle and the flint breaks. So while a friend held the rifle in a shooting position, I touched it off with a lit cigarette, leaving nine black spots under the skin of my right little finger, and one black spot in the ring finger?
