I have a couple of M1911 style .38 Super that are EDC carry guns. Colt 70 Series Gov't, Colt 80 Series Commander, and a first run Detonics Stainless that has become a Safe Queen

We still have my wife's speed/falling plate gun. It is a Colt Commander with a compensated barrel which makes it about the same size as a Gov. Model. Outside of the big kids who get payed to play there is very little interest in the .38 Super around here. Loved the caliber when the game required Major power factor. The charge needed to get it to Mpf made the comp. really work good. Way less recoil than .45 ACP with full steam loads, nice for the wife for cutting down her splits. With a 125 gr. hollow point and a slow burning powder you can almost duplicate the famous 125 gr. .357 mag. load.
