Yup, that's quality journalism for ya. They want you to pay for that kind of pulp fiction writing.
    From the LancasterOnline story:
The gun was knocked from the man’s hand and the second man then mounted him and shot him, Ali said.
    That should warrant additional charges

Yeah, normally the men mounting men happens in the Long's Park rest rooms across route 30. That's been going on for years.

The walkway that goes under 30 from Park City to Long’s Park was always a suspicious area

Another account. I will be interested to see how they treat legal concealed carrier who got involved. From what I have heard so far I think I would have stayed out of the situation, if possible.

I have not been to Park City for about ten years. Do a lot of crimes occur there? Do thugs and gang types from City hang out there? Basically is it a place to avoid?

Lancaster County DA Heather Adams nails it again:

Jeremiahs Josiah-Alberto Sanchez, 16, of Lancaster, is charged with two counts of criminal attempt homicide, three counts of aggravated assault, and 52 counts of recklessly endangering another person.

A 50-year-old man was shopping in a Lancaster city mall with his wife on a Sunday afternoon when gunshots rang out in the JCPenney wing, near Reeds Jewelry Store.

The man calmly turned to his wife and told her to head in the opposite direction. Then he pulled out his handgun — which he had a permit to carry — and headed out of the store and into the main mall area toward the commotion.

He confronted a teenager with a gun, who had just shot three other people, including an innocent bystander who had been shopping with her family 70 feet away, according to prosecutors.

Many more people working or shopping in the mall that day could have been hurt or killed if it weren’t for the actions he took next, Lancaster County District Attorney Heather Adams said Friday.

She gave this account during a news conference Friday:

The man first encountered 16-year-old Jeremiahs Josiah-Alberto Sanchez, of Lancaster, wrestling on the ground with 30-year-old Sergio Vargas, who was shot in the hand. Another bystander who tried to intervene was also shot in the thigh by Sanchez, prosecutors say.

Sanchez fired another shot as the unidentified man approached, missing him by less than a foot. The man responded by shooting three times at Sanchez — hitting the teenager and a nearby wall.

Adams said the man kicked Sanchez’s gun away and held him at gunpoint until police arrived.

Once the situation stabilized, the man realized how young Sanchez was and felt emotional, Adams said, even though his quick thinking likely saved lives.

“He was visibly distraught at the entire situation,” Adams said of the man’s interview with police after the shooting. “I could tell he was wrestling with the choice he felt he had to make... something he did not have to do but felt compelled he had to be there and help.

Absent him being there it could have been a very different situation.”

Adams did not provide the man’s identity, hometown or whether he had any military or law enforcement training that helped him stay calm during the shooting.

Sanchez was charged Friday with two counts of criminal attempted homicide, three counts of aggravated assault, 52 counts of recklessly endangering another person, receiving stolen property, and multiple firearms offenses.

The teen is under police guard ta a local hospital, where he is being treated for wounds on his hand, elbow and an abrasion on his face. He is awaiting arraignment and a bail hearing.

Eyewitness accounts and surveillance footage helped investigators piece together what happened before, during and after the shooting. Video showed Sanchez and three others walking from the center court to the JC Penney wing when 18-year-old Elijah Deliz walked up and confronted Sanchez, according to Adams.

The confrontation quickly led to a fight involving Sanchez, Deliz, Vargas and two other men, Adams said. When Deliz broke away from the fight, Sanchez pulled a handgun from his waistband and shot him in the left thigh, Adams said. Vargas was also shot, and another bullet hit a 30-year-old woman’s arm as she stood next to a child.

The gun Sanchez used was stolen from Lebanon County in September, authorities said. Sanchez was barred from having a gun because he is a minor and has prior offenses through Juvenile Court, according to Adams.

In all, six gunshots were fired inside the mall. Police accounted for all of the bystander’s gunshots, which were fired in the direction of the suspect.

In addition to the four wounded by gunshots, two women were also injured as they and other stunned shoppers tried to flee the mall. None of the injuries were considered life-threatening.

Fifty shoppers called 911, according to Adams, and all of them were interviewed as part of the “time-consuming” investigation.

“Gun violence anywhere is unacceptable, but it is particularly unnerving when it happens on a Sunday afternoon in a crowded shopping mall filled with vulnerable children, families and seniors,” Adams said. “It is equally disturbing that the shooter was a 16-year-old juvenile who was armed with a stolen gun. This entire incident that led to the safety of innocent civilians being put in danger is simply outrageous and we are committed to seeing justice is served.”

The investigation is continuing into what caused the initial confrontation between Sanchez and Deliz, Adams said. She would not comment on any type of explanation Sanchez may have offered investigators.

Lancaster City Police Chief John Bey thanked Pennsylvania State Police, Manheim Township, Manor Township and East Hempfield Township’s police departments, all of whom responded to the scene. Bey said three off-duty police officers also assisted.

“Unfortunately, a situation such as this is a reminder that people need to remain ever vigilant of their surroundings and be prepared to take action to keep themselves safe,” Bey said.

Video of the armed citizen, center screen, low ready, holding perp on the floor until police arrive.

Cop approaches from beyond the scene, makes eye contact with citizen and shows his badge. Citizen acknowledges with a nod. Only then does the cop approach, and does not draw his weapon until he’s just about there. At which point the citizen immediately holsters his weapon.

Well executed, safe transfer of command
