Default Singapore’s SAR-80, Sterling Assault Rifle

I*m a sucker for these *exotic* 5.56 military rifles. This one is a sort of AR-180 clone made in England for the Singapore military.

Parts kit arrived today from RTG parts. Lot of dried cosmoline. Under that appears to be an unfired rifle. No wear on the bolt face or fire control parts.

Until recently you had to re-weld the original upper receiver or fab a new one, and re-profile an AR15 barrel or find an original take off.

The same company that made the 80% upper receiver and new barrel for the AR70/90 that I used for my build of that rifle announced they will be doing the same for the SAR-80 near the first of the year.

So that gives me plenty of time to clean up all the parts and convert the lower to semi auto/922R compliance, which is as simple as welding up the third hole in the steel lower and dropping in a standard AR15 fire control group.

    Stay tuned for updates.
