Default Building a modern Gordon carbine: Yay or nay

Lately I have been toying with the idea of building a modernized Gary Gardon carbine. Like his Shughart counterpart, there's not a ton known about his specific setup but based on pictures we can kinda get a ballpark idea. The OG was between 12.5-14.5" in barrel length with an Ops Inc can that was built in limited number for the .mil. Some reports say it was a 14.5" with the can sitting a lot further back over the barrel. Charlie's Customs sells a replica that is a 12.5" with an Ops Inc can of a new design sitting more upfront but still looking much the part. Otherwise, it was a round handguard, 100mph taped on flashlight, carry handle with an Aimpoint, front sight post and an old school 2 position stock. I was envisioning a modernized setup with a good barrel (Noveske sells an 12.5" chrome lined CHF setup with a FSP/GB combo ready to go) and an FDE Sandman S. Geissele SSA-E inside but still run a round handguard and carry handle but maybe with a Comp M5 as opposed to what was probably a 3000/4000/5000 series Aimpoint. And simply for comfort and quality, a SOPMOD as opposed to the 2 position stock. What say you all? I have a complete rifle that I was contemplating selling off the upper and changing things up on anyway so it's only a few cubic dollars away.

Building any gun - vote yes.

Cool idea. I’m sure you’re collecting info/data. Please post a thread on the build if you decide to move forward..
