Default Jim Thorpe Guns & Ammo

I want to Thank all the customers that have made purchases or used the shop for web transfers so far. We really appreciate the business. I realize its been a struggle not having set hours and doing most business by appointment however, its been a struggle with staffing since the Spring. Next week will be open to the public Monday , Wednesday and Friday 1 00pm to 6 00pm. Unfortunately, weekends will still need to be by appointment only. Hopefully, in the next few weeks, we will be able to staff for a 40 hour plus business week. Thanks again....

Next time I'm in the Poconos, I'll try to check your place out.

The kracken has booked a train ride from Reading to Jim Thorpe and back for Saturday, the 23rd (I believe). With an address like that, I'd expect you to be in the middle of town. If you're open, I'd stop in and look around.

What would you recommend for a lunch spot there? I'd prefer a local watering hole over an overpriced tourist attraction.

Local dive bar is Union Publick House, 2 blocks down from this location, on the same side of the street. Nice tap and bottle/can selection of craft brews. Excellent food, with many ingredients right from their own farm. Always want to check the specials board by the cash register, especially to see what soups there are. Should also still have the Octoberfest menu then, with various sausage, cabbage and spaetzle. Gotta ask for the homemade hot sauces. Some of the best food in town.

Id probably agree with ABuck. Id do the Union before I would go over the river to the Broadway side. Not that the food over there is inferior, Im just not a fan of the parking on that side of town. However, if you are over that side for the day, I prefer the Marion Hose Bar, next to the Opera House.

Thanks. And where does the tourist train park at? I'm not finding it on my map.

Mauch Chunk Train Station, between Josiah White park and the Lehigh River.

Yes, Marion Hose bar, and Notch 8 Craft House on that same side of town. Just more pricy and touristy. But solid food.
