The 1301 is an infinitely better shotgun than the 930. My 930 SPX ran great for years and then just didn't. I've finally got it back to being *mostly* reliable again, but I had to spend money on parts from Or3gun and do some fluff and buffing. But after shooting my wife's 1301 Pro, I've decided to get a tactical model next year.

If you want a reliable semi-auto shotgun, get a Benelli M2. If you can't afford a Benelli M2, get a Stoeger 3000. Older Remington 1100's are good, but you have to swap parts to run a lot of buckshot or slugs.

If you are stuck with a 930, use sandpaper on the chamber, break in with 50 rounds minimum of buckshot, and use ALG purple lube. Clean and lubricate it after EVERY range trip.

I used my Stoeger 3000 as my primary 3gun shotgun, 930 was my backup. Wish I had bought an M2.

Same with their pump guns. Don't drop them on their side.

The Stoeger is OK out of the box, but it needs some love to be competitive. Used one for 3 gun for a couple of years when my 930 was on the fritz. I don't like the M2. Lot more felt recoil than the 930 which I paid a third for. The Beretta 1301 is also softer shooting, especially with the Kick-Off recoil reducer in the stock.

I will take a Mossberg pump over just about any other shotgun, any day of the week. My 500 and 590 have been through a lot over the years and have had zero issues.

    Seconded

I have had 3 500's, a 590, and an 835 over the years. Still own 3 of them and never one issue.

I have jammed an 870, so there is that.

One of the newer production guns. Maybe 2010.

I don't have any exposure to the 1301.
    I have a 3000 and 930, and watched a lot of drama-free M2's in 3gun.

Drop it on the its side from about a foot up. Can even be onto grass or carpet. The shell lift will dislodge from the receiver and jam the whole action.

I have a 590A1. It happens about 3/4 drops and I've seen MANY others do the same.

I get what you're saying, but I have yet to experience something like that with my 590A1 or my 500. Both have been used hard and dropped multiple times on tables and into gun barrels at matches. It may be a flaw in some lifters.

Here's a video showing what you're talking about.
