Hodgdon Closing GOEX Factory
Well this sucks - https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/...goex-facility/
There are only handful of companies that make black powder. Swiss and Schuetzen come to mind. Guessing prices and availability will be going through the roof for those.

They are hoping to sell to another company who will continue to produce the GOEX line.

Re: Hodgdon Closing GOEX Factory
Terrible news for us shooters of historic guns...
Hopefully a buyer is found soon. I've had enough of these shortages based on supply chain and cost cutting measures.

Re: Hodgdon Closing GOEX Factory
This really stinks. Not only for us gun bunch, but the high power sport rocketry users as well. We go through more than our share of 4F for parachute deployment..

Re: Hodgdon Closing GOEX Factory
The factory stuff is graphite coated (the G in FFFG) to reduce moisture absorption and to make it pour easier. Plus the factory stuff is “corned” to get consistent chemical content in each grain of powder. I have not come up with a way to easily duplicate these processes at home. The result is inconsistent, dirty and prone to dampness.
