Taking the media spin off of it: So he has 16 AR/AK type rifles, 10 of which were home built/ “unregistered” and 13 silencers?

From the Rockland Westchester News:
Brian Downey faces more gun, forgery charges after Airmont arrest
NEW CITY * Airmont Deputy Mayor Brian Downey is now facing federal charges and additional state charges related to his alleged possession of unregistered firearms and fraudulent court identification documents, Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Walsh announced Saturday.
Walsh said Downey, 47, who was arrested at his Airmont home on Thursday, was charged Friday with possession of unregistered firearms and possession of federal badges, identification cards and other insignia, under two sections of the United States code.
Downey was arraigned on those federal charges by United States Magistrate Judge Judith C. McCarthy of the Southern District of New York. She set bail at $250,000 unsecured bond.
Airmont Deputy Mayor Brian Downey walked out of his home on 11 felony charges of buying silencer and other weapons parts by Ramapo police.
In addition, Walsh filed supplementary charges and obtained a warrant from the village of Airmont Justice Court for additional state charges against Downey: three counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony. That was for his alleged possession of a fraudulent New York court officer identification card and two fraudulent New York court officer badges.

Downey previously was charged Thursday with one count of first-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, for the alleged possession of 10 or more unregistered firearms; 16 counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, for the alleged possession of 16 assault weapons; and 13 counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon for the alleged possession of 13 firearm silencers.
Investigators seized weapons at Downey's house at the time of his arrest on Thursday. That arrest followed a joint investigation by U.S. Homeland Security, Walsh's office and U.S. postal inspectors.
Walsh said Downey has not been arraigned on the new warrant and is currently in custody in the Rockland County Jail. Walsh said the investigation is continuing.
Downey, a Ramapo deputy building inspector and part-time court officer, was first elected an Airmont trustee in 2019. If convicted of a felony charge, he would be forced to leave office.
It was not immediately clear if Downey had an attorney representing him.Engineers make things idiot proof! Evolution makes better idiots!
