or one of the homies of the pursued shoots at you as in the video in the LA projects narrated by a Police officer. I watched this video when it first came out and it's 14 minutes long but it's pretty stark about officers getting involved in a foot pursuit. When I was riding with my FTO, one of the 1st things he told me was if we get in a foot pursuit, he'll follow behind me in the car.

Stupidity is written into (almost) every script...
Of course, in real life, I find stupidity all around me ---- so those scripts might be more realistic than it first seems...

Hence the reason for the question...

TV cop shows are the worst for foot pursuits, car pursuits, fights and police shootings. And that doesn*t help when actual uses of force are shown on the news.
The other one is there is always a parking spot for the police car to pull into at the call. And also when the cops are about to move in on a bust and like four cars appear out of nowhere, lights and sirens and converge on a group who appear to be caught by surprise.
I try to stay in the car for as long as possible in a foot pursuit
i'd like to trim your comment down to simply "tv cop shows are the worst"
There is no way to make it out alive...
