Compress gas cylinder question.

Strange question for anyone with knowledge of compressed gas cylinder tanks. Tank has been empty for years, with valve removed, so perfectly safe. I want to know if the part where the protective cap screws

on is removable or does it need to be cut off?

If you cut, make sure you know what gas it contained and possibly put some inert gas in there before cutting.

Oxygen, acetylene, nitrogen, argon, helium, and hydrogen cylinders are all I deal in. Some have a removable shoulder *cap*. If it is removable, you should be able to slip a screwdriver tip up under and wiggle it a bit. If you can, it probably is removeable by unscrewing it.

It has has threads for the cap and then goes down and spreads out a little over top of tank.
