Would encourage you to make sure your proficient with your rifle and know where a deer*s vital organs are located. Study the charts and be prepared to know where to aim even if the deer is not a perfect broadside. Also, be honest with your self and your capabilities with the rifle and how far out you want to shoot.

As others have said, get out know and scout around, heck, go pretend you*re hunting and see what you can see if you*re out there for a few hours. Don*t take your rifle of course.
