Laurel Highlands Backpacking (with OHIO CCW)
Good Morning Everyone! I am going backpacking for 2-3 days next week and was hoping to bring my pistol. I know PA has reciprocity, and from what I have read I believe I am ok to carry in State Parks (but not in their buildings) but wanted to check with you all and confirm, and see if there are any "gotchas" I need to be aware off . I plan on carrying in a chest pouch so it will be concealed.

Check out handgunlaw.us for the state you want to carry in and read it thoroughly. They cite the relevant laws which tell you where you can and can't carry.
If you are carrying on reciprocity then it's also a good idea to print out the relevant official reciprocity from the state's website. I've read more than a few horror stories of people carrying on recip where LEO involvement didn't understand the law. If you find yourself in that situation a very polite "May I show you the relevant law from the State's website sir?"
Also have a copy of your PA permit electronically, maybe in your email, in case you loose yours while carrying there. Then at least you can print it out.

He's from Ohio. Ohio is reciprocal with PA. Would you bother with all that crap if you went to Ohio? BTW, duty to inform in Ohio, but not in PA.

Thanks StevenMilePete.
I think I am "a-ok" but I'm going to continue to do some more research.

Re: Laurel Highlands Backpacking (with OHIO CCW)
Sorry, I mixed up the states. I think the same principles apply.
I wasn't referring to the "duty to inform".
What I was referring to was the horror stories I've read about people lawfully carrying on reciprocity agreements when the LEO's didn't know such an agreement existed. A simple print out from the state's AG's website explaining such and a polite way to inform the LEO could prevent someone from being falsely arrested. So yes, I would go out of my way. I'm not sure what "crap" you are referring to. I'm saying carry an extra piece of paper with you with the state's reciprocity agreement printed out.
