    Default Classifieds Updates Round 2

As some of you may be aware, a couple weeks ago we attempted to fix some problems we saw in the way classifieds were being used, and it did not work. While it would have solved one subset of issues, it created more and ultimately the juice wasn't worth the squeeze. When we announced the changes, we stated that we would listen for feedback on how the system worked and either adapt or revert if necessary, so here we are.

    Here's The TL;DR;:

    1. The classifieds are back to the way they used to be, you can post as many threads as you want (that are not duplicates) and can bump them again
    2. The bumping time has been extended to 7 days. This will give more breathing room to new posts and will be easier to figure out: You can bump on the same day of the week that you originally posted or last bumped, we won't be counting hours or minutes
    3. The early bumping infraction has been raised to 10 points which will result in a 1 day ban when given, and punishments may also start including having all your classifieds threads deleted if there are recurring problems
    4. We ask people to consider not bumping posts more than 3 times or re-posting the same items unless you are significantly sweetening the deal. We hope people will use their judgement so we don't have to start trying to come up with more rules. We need you to be honest with yourselves about whether your classifieds offer any value to the potential buyers/sellers or if you are just taking up space in the hope that someone buys your junk
    5. We will begin putting downward pressure on an ad-hoc basis on users who abuse the spirit of our classifieds section by continuously posting large amounts of items that do not sell repeatedly. We will start reaching out to posters for whom this is a recurring problem.
    6. We have clarified that the "Firearms" section is only for firearms (including black powder, air guns, etc.) and serialized parts such as lowers and frames
    7. We have added a new "Ammunition & Reloading" subsection
    8. We have repurposed the old "Accessories & Ammunition" section into "Firearm Parts & Accessories"

    Please:
    1. Review the updated Classifieds Rules
    2. Understand the new new Classifieds sections and ensure that new threads are posted in the appropriate place

Like last time, we are going to be fairly lenient on rule enforcement while everyone adapts to the new system (that is actually the old system, after going through a broken system for a few weeks), mainly:
    1. We will be lenient on infractions with either PMs or infractions issued as warnings while people adapt
    2. We are not worried about existing threads that are now mis-categorized because of the forum category changes. You are free to leave them where they are (they will phase out eventually) or edit them to mark them "[CLOSED]" and re-post them in the appropriate categories
    3. We will be keeping an eye on high-quantity/low-quality classifieds posted by users and will begin reaching out to them about reducing the number of recurring garbage posts

We hope this system will actually solve some of the issues we failed to solve in the last round of changes while keeping all the value that people enjoyed about the original setup. We will continue to adapt as we go.

Thank you all for your patience and your constructive criticism/feedback from the last announcement. We don't always get it right, but we do listen, and we are striving to make this forum a place that everyone continues to call a digital home away from home.

Thanks for taking all of the feedback into consideration and making some positive, impactful change from it. I’m excited about classifieds again.
