This bill is in the Judiciary Committee. Republicans rule 14-9 It will not get passed.
It seems when Democrats are in the minority, they propose insanely stupid legislation they know can never pass, then use GOP no votes for political fodder (ie. Republicans want to kill children) while pointing to themselves and saying how woke/liberal they are to their dumbass constituents.

How are they going to stamp a ten figure number on a .22 short?

They should go speak to Maryland about their spent cartridge database that consumed decades and millions of
dollars and never helped solve a single crime.

Re: Proof they could NOT be stupider! HB 1786
With our current legislature, I'm confident such stupidity won't make it out of committee right now, but it's important to let our legislators know what we expect of them every time something like this pops up. Hammer it down before it starts to grow legs.
Remember that a technology doesn't need to exist or be viable for anti-gun zealots to attempt to pass and in some cases successfully enact batshit crazy laws that ban the "legacy" technology. Just look at the CA microstamping and NJ smart gun mandates. If one company implements some shitty version of the tech, then all companies have to comply.I am not a lawyer.
