Curious as to why the G45 seems to be getting near universal preference (per this thread) vs the G17? Is the shorter slide length helpful in a mid-ride duty holster while riding in a car?

For me it makes a huge difference. We have to be "concealed" or "covered". It's ridiculous as wear a fill duty belt. Radio, tazer, 2 sets of cuffs, 2 spare mags, the gun, baton and flashlight. Most of my gear is open, really only the gun and sometimes the tazer is concealed. I'm a slim guy (34 in waist) so I don't have a lot of tactical girth. So having to conceal the gun with the shorter slide really does help. I don't have a Glock 17 so I can't compare, but it's definitely way easier to carry than the 21 was

Dam good move for the Officers,Credit the them all that gear and vest is a lot of weight ! I thought our Dept when they went from S&W 686 to the Glock 19 was a weight saver .

Yeah, I was thinking that as well. Some like the longer slide on the flip side though. My good friend is a Baltimore LEO, and he would prefer the 17 over the 45. That said, his issue is a G22, and he carries a G23 off duty. (Has to be 40cal)

But I*m also wondering about those who would rather the 21?? The camp who believe in the infamous bullet *SHOCK*, and magical *Knock Down* power.

My neighbor has the cops at his house almost monthly, and I mean ma minimum of 4 cops.
One day he had the swat team there, I was up state at the time but my neighbors told me.
    Just shoot the sob.

What does he think of the transition to 9mm? Would he prefer to be shot by a 45 or 40 instead?
