    Default Marlin Model 60 SS

I'm not much of a gun fix it guy, so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

Marlin Model 60 SS, tube fed .22LR semi-auto with bull barrel. It has sat in the safe for almost 15 years, I never shot it until the other day. It continually jammed and failed to eject, failed to feed. Took it apart and gave it a good cleaning...my FIL was a fan of Tetra Lube (don't know why...I hated that stuff), and when he last cleaned it, he lubed it up. Well, after about 30 minutes cleaning up the gummed up extractor and all other parts, brush down the barrel followed with Hoppes, tried it again.

    Same results...no improvement at all.

Pics of spent and unspent 22s below...what am I missing? Thanks in advance.

Those look pretty mashed up, are you sure it's an LR and not something shorter?

Damn, you beat me to it, but here's more: There's a few threads about problems like this at Rimfirecentral.com. It usually caused by a misaligned extractor rod, usually caused by assembling the rifle without locking the bolt back, or pushing a rod in through muzzle with the bolt open, exposing the extractor wire. The threads show the proper alignment. Easy fix if you see the pics. You need a nickle for an alignment guide if I remember correctly. It's been a while.

But if you don't want to bother fixing, I'll take it it off your hands for 100 bucks. Sight unseen. :-)

    Here it is:
    https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forum...d.php?t=388240

Shows how to align, and explains how to not screw it up.
Also points you to a video.

While you're at it, pick up an MCARBO Model 60 Trigger Kit. I put one in my 60 SS and my FiL's old Glenfield Model 60 rifle. Makes a huge difference in the performance.

I have learned to use lube very sparingly on these 60s . They like grafite powder the best.

Subsonic ammo isnt strong enough to cycle, lube the shit out of it all you want. If he was single shot, he would be fine.
