Default Hasan Escort 12 ga. Pump Shotgun soft primer hits

Wanted to know what would cause the soft hit. Shotgun is new. The rounds are Browning 2 2/3” Shells 9 shots. Brand new box. Tried 5 separate rounds and happened 5 of the 8 times. I am at a loss to find reliable information concerning what to check exactly. I’ll be taking it back to the range and try my 00 Buck shot and the same ammo for functionality but what and where should I start looking. I could take it to get check at my local shop but trying to diagnose it for before spending money for a gunsmith to look at and fix. Please help!

New gun, take it back to the dealer. It sounds like a soft hammer spring.

Yes it is likely a combination of a weaker hammer spring and too stiff of a firing pin spring.

I have an Escort autoloader and had this issue. I dealt with it by installing a lighter firing pin spring. I believe I used a pen spring (no joke). Yeah it's obviously not a high quality or properly treated/tempered spring but it's been working through many rounds. I check it regularly to ensure it's still stiff enough to do its job and prevent a slam fire.

I found lightening the firing pin spring was the much easier route than getting a stronger hammer spring. Hatsan's/Legacy Sports customer service is pretty bad so I just went on my own. Good luck.

Could be a bad spring, short firing pin, bad machining in the firing pin channel, or something else. The easiest thing to do with a new gun is send it back for warranty.
