Re: Red Dot on your pistol; what was your initial experience?
For me personally*. I will never buy a new pistol ever again that isn*t optic cut. There definitely is a learning curve with red dots. If you are going to get a red dot, I recommend an enclosed system. I think all red dots being full enclosed are the future. I have a swampfox sentinel on my G48 MOS and I like it a lot. With practice, I*ve gotten very accurate with it (more than using iron sights) and I am becoming quicker to present my pistol and see my dot where I want it. I sent out my Glock 45 to get an optic cut. I plan on installing an enclosed red dot (probably the swampfox kraken once it is released).
Regarding keeping them clean, it seems using an electronics air in a can is 95% effective. Once in a very blue moon, I will use a glasses cleaning spray and microfiber towel if that doesn*t get everything out."The Constitution is the guide which I will not abandon.” - George Washington
