Snap Caps and dummy rounds?

I use them.

Also use snap-caps loaded randomly for FTF drill.

Dummy rounds are useful in drills. If you are practicing reloads it's good to have the mags full so you get used to the weight. I've dry fired my G17 probably tens of thousands of times without snap caps and never had a firing pin or spring issue. Completely not necessary for that type of gun. The spring is not that heavy and I don't even see how it could damage anything.

I like using them for practice, also at the range. The neon ones stand out great on the ground.

I make my own dummies with CCI aluminum cases and pulled bullets from discarded dud rounds from the range or the cheapest hardball bullets I find for sale. Because I only shoot my own reloads which use coated cast bullets, the dummies look nothing like my live rounds. I really like this for safety to not accidentally swap during dry drills at home.

I use these: https://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-t...-prod9923.aspx Lots cheaper than typical snap caps, and they're easy to find on the ground. I don't use them to dry-fire. I mix one or two into my mags at the range for practice in clearing malfunctions.

I have and use them for all the calibers I have. I hate the feel of a hammer coming down on nothing. Striker fired pistols I really don't worry about as much. I usually dry fire practice with DAO or DA/SA guns to avoid having to rack every single time.

I used them with both striker and hammer fired pistols, why risk the damage when you can spend 10 to 15 on a few snap caps, just my opinion.

They are good so as to keep the slide moving..not locking on empty Mag.

As for preventing firing pin damage? THAT is a complete MYTH! Made up nonsense, perpetuated by the Interwebs regurgitators! There has NEVER been an actual account of a modern, quality pistol...either Striker or Hammer fired, being damaged by Dry Firing! NEVER! Think about it... how much assurance could come from a firearm that FAILS from simply dry firing?? I*ll go a step further. I wouldn*t WANT any firearm I COULDN*T dry fire over & over again!! And all of mine have been. It*s Steel, Aluminum & Polymer in these things. They aren*t made of Fine China!

But, as I said, no problem using them. Just don*t be one of the talking heads rebuking others that dry fire.
