So, I made the mistake of turning the TV news on this morning. One of the stories was about Biden's push to crack down on "illegal guns". A flunky from his administration told the anchor several times about getting illegal guns off the street.

Now, never once did the "journalist" ask for a definition of an illegal gun. To me, an illegal gun is a firearm that is not legal to own. That would mean new machine guns, sawed-off shotguns, and other weapons that are specifically prohibited. But I don't think these are the weapons that Biden is pursuing.

If he were to be more precise, does he mean people who are not allowed to legally own firearms, who have stolen them, or who have bought them illegally from the black market. If so, there are already numerous laws on the books. Or does the phrase "illegal guns" just resonate with liberal focus groups who know next to nothing about firearms and gun laws?
