    Both untrue, sir.

The first two posts you made in this thread contains falsehoods you "knew" to be true. I am not trying to be rude, but this is how bad information gets spread around. Please consider verifying the things you "know" to be true before asserting them as fact.

I was once in the same boat, unintentionally spreading falsehoods by repeating things seemingly knowledgeable people had told me. It was an embarrassing but valuable lesson when I finally learned that much of what I "knew" to be "fact" was most certainly not.

    From handgunlaw.us:
To carry any firearm in New York a person must have a New York Permit/License. If you have a New York
Permit given the politically sensitive nature of handgun licensing in New York State, Handgunlaw.us
    recommends keeping your firearm concealed.

As for licensing, it's convoluted and the hoops necessary to jump through vary widely based on county of residence. If you're in NYC, you need to be a Howard Stern-level celebrity to get one.

Precisely. There's a lot of daylight between "no open carry at all" and "recommends keeping your firearm concealed."

Again, there's a lot of daylight between "var[ies] widely based on county" and "almost impossible." It's far, far, far from "impossible" for the majority of the state's landmass. In fact, if you don't live downstate, it's a fairly easy, albeit unconstitutional, process.

(a) Purpose of license.--A license to carry a firearm shall be for the purpose of carrying a firearm concealed on or about one's person or in a vehicle throughout this Commonwealth."

It's not even a criminal provision. There is no statute in PA that says you have to conceal; in fact, what we have is statutes saying you MAY NOT conceal, without an LTCF. Open carry is not a violation of 6109, the license is usually irrelevant to open carry*.

Judge tossed it, of course, but that's the level of ignorance even among some prosecutors and some cops. I had an introductory meeting at a PA gun club where they told us that we couldn't use a hip holster, because "concealed means concealed", which is a tautology, but irrelevant to the point he thought he had.

The example I came up with was this: I can ride a bike, but without a license I can't drive a car. Getting a driver's license doesn't mean I forfeit the right to ride a bike, it just means I can ALSO drive a car.

In places and times where you could legally open carry without a license, you do not give up the option to open carry if you get the license. *Philadelphia is a place where state law requires an LTCF to open carry, and during times of emergency, open carry is prohibited state-wide without an LTCF.
Pennsylvanians must like westerns. I would suggest watching the Ox Bow Incident although I don’t think they will understand it, just as the 1943 executive premiere audience did not. On his way out of the theater Orson Wells said to one of the dejected actors that the ignorant crowd did not understand what they had just seen. Of course he was correct.

Hmm, One of those fox news guys, Geraldo Rivera, did a story on his attempt to get a purchase permit and we never did find out if he did or not. I do know that Trump got one in NJ. I wonder if he carried while he was president.

Trump got the unicorn - the NYC permit.

And it was John Stossel, not Rivera...
