    Default Range Reports

I looked and didn't find a thread on range reports. So...here's one for us.

I was out with the .338 WINMAG and my H&K USP compact 9 yesterday. I've been shooting since I was about 10 but never really shot a whole lot except for my BB and pellet guns, they did get a lot of use but I don't expect to be a sharpshooter (yet).

Here's the .338 at 150 yds 225 grain. The group at about 1 o'clock was after a scope adjustment. I forgot to take dish towels and bubble wrap with me but I ordered a shoulder pad when I got home. It's hard to shoot straight when you're wincing about the thought of a shot.

And here's the compact 9 at 25 yds. Yeah, they'd be dead but I want better shots.

15yd with the vortex viper on the Spikes AR9 pistol, taking my time (mix of 115gr federal bulk and 185gr seismic)

Rapid fire, 115gr federal bulk @15yd

25-30yd blazer brass/S&B 115gr and 185gr seismic had similar groups but not as consistent. TheOpened up to 3” max. BUIS averaged about 2.5”-3” groups regardless of distance, havent zero’d them in though. S&B ammo was more consistent than blazer, close to Federal bulk pack.

    Nice shooting with the handgun.

I have found that round targets are easier to shoot at distance. Your eyes automatically wants to focus on the center.

Now that's what I'm talking there I'd be pretty happy with myself if I could do that. Of course, I'd want that at 800 yds then if I got that at 485, the quest for improvement never sleeps.

Took a few plinkers out for a walk today. I don't really shoot a lot but I'm not unhappy with the results but see room for improvement too. I have high expectations of myself and always feel like I need to do better.

First up, 3 mags with the AR. It gave me some loading issues at first but it seemed to work them out. This is 100yds, bench rested with an ACOG

    AR1.jpg

    AR2.jpg

Then my USP 9C freehand at 15yds, factory sites

    USP 9C.jpg

    VP9, same conditions

    VP9.jpg

    VP9 15yds, benched about 15 shots

    VP9 Bench.jpg

and finally, 13 shots with the USP 9C piled on top of the VP9s bench rested

OK, that one will be in the next post, I'm only allowed five right now.
