You cannot improve a milspec trigger. If attempted you'll change critical tolerances and/or remove the heat treated/hardened surfaces. Changing a spring won't work either as you'll compromise reliability for a very marginal improvement.

Replace it. Very easy. Get a Geissele SSA or SSA-E.

I got 4.3 lb in my BRN-180 build using a Spikes Tactical nickel boron Battle Trigger FCG, a Kaw Valley Precision Reduced Power AR FCG spring set, and Weapon Shield grease on the sear surfaces, and Weapon Shield oil on the hammer and trigger/disconnect axis pins.

There are a lot of options in the market that will get you there. What is the budget? As said in post#2, there is nothing you can do to the existing parts that won't sacrifice functionality (which could be dangerous for you and others).

Get or buy a Rock River 2-stage trigger, $90-100 works VERY well.

I've used a JP reduced spring kit. I wound up leaving in the original hammer spring after a few light primer strikes and haven't had a fail since. Still lightened up the trigger pretty well. It's also $11 so no risk to try it.

Thanks to all who advised me. I'll have to give a thinking. I wonder what the pull was for a M-1, I shot in the Marines in 1959? I qualified 4 points under perfect.

I've had good luck with these : Rise Armament RA 140. You can usually find them under $100

Cheap option? Kaw Valley springs. I swapped the one that came with an Anderson kit for a Kaw and made a huge difference. The Anderson was complete shit out of the box, with the Kaw spring its tolerable and noticeably lighter. It's still not as nice as a quality trigger or even as much as an "ELG" (or whatever polished upgrade each place sells), but is better and cheap.

Or spend $75+ for a new one from one of the various quality trigger manufacturers.
