Keeping Dad away from the EDC

I had a few of these when the daughter was living at home. Wouldn't stand up to a real attack but good at keeping idle hands off its contents.

It seems like their newer models have gone biometric, but I think I have a couple in the garage that I'm not using if you're interested.

Not sold on the method for opening it. I see potential failure under stress.
3 steps to open - while having fingers (and thumb) pressing the correct combo...

Not saying it's terrible. Just not sure it's the one for me.

Idea. Glue a short rubber antenna to it, and put a Samsung label on it so it looks like a router.

I contacted them to see if their product would fit my 5" 1911. Their response:

Some do and some don't depending on the make. Please use these interior dimensions to confirm fitment before purchasing! Interior 8.75 x 5.75 x 1.5"

If your gun will not fit don*t worry, we have a larger version coming later this summer! August, 2021.

My EDC and my match gun are twins, and my EDC belt and holster (handmade super-tuck clone on 11oz backing leather) do double duty as my match rig as well. I subscribe to the whole "Beware the man with one gun - he probably knows how to use it" thing, and have my reasons for preferring the 1911. I would be more likely to keep it on at all times if I didn't have sweat running down my back most days - as I said way up there, Mom likes it steamy.

Background: I have relocated to Mom & Dad's house (they've been in since 1969) to help Mom with Dad's increasing dementia. While just running around the house I keep my EDC (5" 1911) out of the way and kinda out of sight in "my" room, so I could have relatively quick access if needed.

Issue: Dad's on the downhill side of this experience. My room used to be their room for the first 20-25 years, then they moved into the slightly larger room that used to be mine and my brother's. Last night, Dad wandered into the wrong room to go to bed. I guided him out before he got more than a full step into the room.

Need: I need something convenient that will keep Dad away from the gun but give me quick access. I do NOT want anything with biometrics. Not at all a fan of RFID. I can live with batteries. Doesn't need to be hidden (from burglars) or weigh a ton, just a simple push-button locking box I can keep near my usual work (dining room) or recreation (living room) hangouts. There are no children who could play around and figure out a combination, so a simple 4-button would work.

Room for 2 pistols would be cool, but not required.

Curious, how old is your Dad, and does he have Alzheimer disease? All of us old folks don't have a problem with firearms.
