So, if it wasn't a "ghost" gun, would this be newsworthy?

Don't know why this is such a big deal. According to the article, it was only a .9mm.

Probably just had it for shooting cicadas.

If the perp only had a registered firearm, this would have never happened....

Just like that fellow from Dayton. If he hadn't had a pistol brace, he'd never have shot anyone. I sure hope Joe and the new ATF guy puts a stop to this madness! Anybody who doesn't feel that these should be banned obviously cares more about their guns than people's lives!!!

A 9mm handgun with a "larger" capacity magazine as a so called ghost gun? So is this an AR/AK pistol chambered in 9mm? I have never built one, so please help me out here.

It's an 80% complete frame. Since it isn't a firearm, it doesn't require a serial number or a transfer through an FFL. Buyers complete the remaining work on the frames, then add/assemble the parts after the frame is complete. Most popular are Glock gen 3 frames, and AR15 frames.

According to the legend of Sleepy Joe, these diabolical frames cause countless numbers of people to commit crimes that they otherwise would never have committed. Often, the unwitting buyers of the frames would have been going to school to be doctors or lawyers. Yet, these frames pervert the otherwise gentle nature of the buyers, causing them to commit heinous acts. Very scary stuff.

Police said preliminary information indicates that the man had a .9mm "ghost gun" with an extended magazine. Such guns can be assembled from firearm kits and don't have serial numbers or other identifying information.
