    Default CCW in South Carolina

Any ideas on the easiest/ fastest non resident state LTCF to get to be able to carry in SC? They don't recognize PA and Ohio, Michigan and others require class training (trying to get processed by August if CV possible). Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Not possible unless you're willing to move to a state they honor.

    From handgunlaw.us...

South Carolina Does Not Honor Non-Resident Permits/Licenses. You must be a resident of the state
they honor for your permit to be valid in South Carolina.

SC does allow you to carry loaded in a glove box or center console though. And you can carry back and forth to a hotel. You can't carry on your person but it's not like possession is prohibited to screw up your travel plans like NJ or NY.

South Carolina doesn't honor non-resident licenses/permits at all. So an AZ non-resident license wouldn't do you any good in SC.

There is a provision to obtain a non-resident SC permit if you own property in SC. An enterprising South Carolinian could buy a few acres then sell tiny one ft sq lots for a few bucks each. Divide the annual taxes up equally and hold in escrow or just have each tiny lot assessed. Land is pretty cheap in rural SC. Now and again you might roll down to SC, set up a beach chair on your land and enjoy! Just be careful, you'll probably be over your property line!

If you own property in SC you can apply for a Non-Resident Permit/License. Non-Residents must fill out
this Form and have the Assessor sign it to show you own property. Then follow the Application process as
spelled out in the Resident Permit Section.
If you are Military stationed in SC you can apply. See Resident section above for details.

    Buy some land in SC.

Not kidding. I had a friend who lived in NC, but owned land in SC also. He could get a license from SC even though he did not actually live there (as I remember).

I suppose DADT applies here as much as you're willing, but with a CC in SC, you must get express owner permission to carry concealed in any residence or dwelling. So you stop by your neighbors to borrow a power tool and before you step in you must ask, "Say Cletus, I got me this here pistol strapped to my britches and I'm fixin to enter your garage. Y'all ok with it?"

Also, Open Carry is illegal. Weird-ass rules down there.

No person who holds a permit issued pursuant to Article 4, Chapter 31, Title 23 may carry a concealable
weapon into the residence or dwelling place of another person without the express permission of the owner
or person in legal control or possession, as appropriate. A person who violates this provision is guilty of a
misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be fined not less than one thousand dollars or imprisoned for not
more than one year, or both, at the discretion of the court and have his permit revoked for five years.

They've really sewn it up, haven't they?

The idea of buying a small piece of property does seem reasonable if it's a place you visit often.
