Default ATF Proposed Rule Change: Factoring Criteria for Firearms with Attached Braces

    https://www.atf.gov/rules-and-regula...ilizing-braces

Hold on to your pistol braces, the ride is about to get bumpy!

Sharpen your pencils for the public comment period.

It’s a long read. My favorite part is page 55 where they said they considered a tax free SBR registration for current brace owners but they rejected the idea since people would just register all their pistols as SBRs and take advantage of it.

    I feel personally attacked.

Any word on when the public comment period begins?

No grandfathering in previously legal configurations? I don't even have a brace and I'll still be writing.

Yeah, the Marxist wouldn't want to allow law abiding citizens to remain law abiding without some pain and suffering and a sprinkle of dog-killing..

Under the Section III worksheet "Weapons Configuration" (page 17), a firearm is assessed ONE penalizing point (towards SBR classification) for "Presence of Rifle-type Back-up/ Flip-up Sights / Or no sights "

So you can't have sights on it, and you can't shoot it ghetto-style either? Did I miss something?

Also note on same page, you have to weigh the firearm before you do anything.

"Weapon as configured weighing more than 120 ounces" FOUR points.

Not that it isn't completely arbitrary, but if you can't keep your pistol build under 7.5 pounds, you are doing it wrong. My last rifle build was under 7 without trying particularly hard.

Guess some form of 556 pistol should be next on my list.
