Once you get that gas block buttoned up and range ready, i found it easiest to dial mine in by leaving the handguard off and starting with a fully closed block. Open adjustment screw 1/2 turn til it cycles semiauto and ejects at 90* then back off 1/4 turn, fine tune from there. Use Nato spec ammo or lowest pressure ammo you have (i used surplus LC tracer), that*ll help set baseline and allow lightest recoil with 308 loads while still cycling reliably. With nossler match ammo and ELDX it feels like im shooting a 5.56. FMJ feels like nothing at all. Stout reloads, same thing.
I've been happy with odin works as well. They are my go to hand guard because i already have the 2 crows foot wrenches their handguards use. I've used the ragna, rune, and o2 lite. All are good.

They are very good to their customers. I've heard good things about their barrels as well.

Thanks for the advice on the adjustment. I'm thinking I'll take the hand guard off. It is easy enough to do. Just a few small screws.

What about the weight of your M&P 15?
I hear that it is as heavy as 10 boxes you might be moving...

It is not lightweight. I replaced the handguard and stock. That helped. The barrel is heavy though. I can't imagine their forged receivers weigh significantly more than any other.

I do have a lightweight build i did. I smile every time i pick it up. There is nothing exotic on it but i made some careful decisions to keep the weight down.
