Default Can an AR pistol be legally carried if overall length is 31 inches?

I want to legally carry a loaded ar or ak pistol on my vehicle. Can the overall length be 31 inches? Looking at the Daniel Defense MK18 pistol with 10 inch barrel and arsenal ak pistol.

With a LTCF you can carry an AR pistol with a pistol brace. Barrel of AR pistol should be less than 16 inches.

My main concern is the wording of an overall length in the pa firearm definition. The mk 18 i believe is almost 31 inches overall with a 10 something inch barrel.

Keep in mind the length only goes from the end of the buffer tube to tip of the threads on the barrel. Not to the end of the muzzle device, unless said muzzle devices is pinned/welded.

I'll be honest - this shit is confusing as hell

That being said here is the definition from the crimes code *note the usage of "OR"
"Firearm." Any pistol or revolver with a barrel length less than 15 inches, any shotgun with a barrel length less than 18 inches or any rifle with a barrel length less than 16 inches, or any pistol, revolver, rifle or shotgun with an overall length of less than 26 inches. The barrel length of a firearm shall be determined by measuring from the muzzle of the barrel to the face of the closed action, bolt or cylinder, whichever is applicable.
You don't have a stock, so it's a pistol. Your barrel is less than 15, so you are good under the first classification.

That definition was created long before anyone ever heard of arm braced carbines.
