Default The fight against gun control has some surprising new allies

    https://www.cnn.com/2021/05/18/busin...ies/index.html

New York (CNN)The firearms industry and its GOP allies have taken a more inclusive approach to fighting Democrat-led efforts to pass stricter gun laws this year.

The once-mighty National Rifle Association, whose bankruptcy bid was shot down by a federal judge on May 11, has played a much less-active role in the current gun control debate taking place on Capitol Hill due to its internal corruption scandals and related lawsuits.
In its place, gun rights supporters have found additional political allies among minority-led, pro-Second Amendment groups such as the National African American Gun Association and the DC Project, a women-centered firearms education organization that also trains domestic violence victims to safely and legally defend themselves.
Republicans have invited leaders from these groups to speak on Capitol Hill to counter emotional testimony from the families of gun violence victims invited by Democrats.
Firearms trade groups have also built inroads with leaders from the Pink Pistols, an LGBTQ gun group, and Asian American and Pacific Islander Gun Owners, which formed in March amid a Covid-19-related surge in anti-Asian hate crimes.

CNN can't analyze its own decline, let alone a gun-related paradigm.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Nothing new . Some of those groups were around for some. The problem is I suspect their members normally vote democrat which negates any lobbying efforts they provide. They might have a better strategy if they try to convince the democrats to drop their gun banning efforts.

I do wonder if the many new gun-owner Dims will start going "Dafuq?" to Dem gun control efforts. Anecdotally, plenty of tales out there of Dems going out to buy guns during the pandemic and having "Wait, you mean I actually can't just throw down cash and walk out with a gun?" experiences.

If you guys are expecting the people who vote for socialism then run away from it, and vote for it again, to change their view points, dont hold your breath.

No, I fully expect they'll keep voting Democrat.

What I think MIGHT actually happen is enough of them now own guns that they'll start pushing the Dems to lighten up on the gun control.

I personally know several libs (some of my wife's girlfriends) who bought guns in the last year and are at least starting to ask the right questions. I've had a few of them out to the range for some basic instruction (I'll happily teach any LAGO basic safety and shooting skills). Every single one made some sort of relevant comment, e.g. "I didn't realize you actually have to pass a background check to buy a gun"...

My favorite is the one who actually got turned down. Turns out ~30 years ago she was badly-advised and 'took a deal' on a non-violent "financial" felony she arguably didn't commit. She is LIVID about it, like started 'writing her representatives' and such.

Yeah I don*t care if they like guns. They are DEMONcrats...plain & simple. They vote for DEMONcrats, follow liberal *feelings* policies & worship BABY MURDER! Of course they like guns....its just that they want ONLY DEMONcrats to own them. There are several of these sick fucks here as members!
