Re: 😔 Fatal injury after gun malfunction in Lackawanna County
The manual for the BFR's have no extra info on the 45-70 Gov caliber. In other words, Magnum Research's BFR's in 45-70 are GTG on any factory offerings of ammo in 45-70. In Chapter 6 of their manual you'll find the ubiquitous statement on the use of remanufactured or reloaded ammunition.
I handled a 44mag BFR beside my 10.5" Ruger Blackhawk in 44mag and it made my RBH feel like a toy. Newbies to shooting or reloading usually don't start out with 45-70 or purchase a BFR. Regardless of what happened or who was at ultimate fault, it's a tragedy for the family or families involved.Engineers make things idiot proof! Evolution makes better idiots!

*well he got it half right- always let someone else try out your reloads first, but he missed the part that he should stand behind the shooter.....

Not for me!
That's funny. When I went for orientation at my gun club a few years back, they were teaching folks about guns and gun safety. The guy asked, "And what do you do if you have a gun that you are not sure is functional?" I said, "Let your buddy shoot it first". He didn't seem to think much of the idea.Gender confusion is a mental illness

45/70 with the wrong powder is a grenade waiting to happen. Especially if its a fast burning pistol powder.

When i first saw this article I thought "another knucklehead at a public range". Now I know it was a kaboom and not some out of state shithead doing really dumb things like you usually hear about.
