Default Can I gift a firearm to my father...

My father is a OH resident & I am a PA resident. Can I give him some of my guns w/o going through an FFL. Long guns? Pistols? Or, neither.

Federal law says interstate requires FFL transfer. Long guns can be done in either state, handguns must be done in recipients state...

Understood. I thought that there were exemptions between a father & a son. Am I wrong?

If you were both PA residents, then an exemption would apply and you could simply gift the guns without an FFL transfer provided he is not prohibited. Since you are residents of different states, you must go through an FFL

    This is correct.

The exemption lies within state law, and applies only when all recognized parties are PA residents. Federal law imposes the FFL requirement when a transaction crosses state lines, regardless of the relationship of the involved parties.

I strongly agree with that. Their won't be an exemption only if you go through an FFL transfer.
