Local elections
Hi All, I visited York county website below and tried to make sense of the candidates. Using Erin Ross for example, I know this is a liberal but is also listed on the Republican side of the ballot and also elsewhere as both. Fallin listed as both as well.
Any good places to get down to the brass on "who is what" here. It seems to me this information is being muddied in order to confuse people. If I vote for a liberal I'm not going to be happy

Thanks
Jolly

https://foac-pac.org/Voter-Guide
My go-to resource.
Keep in mind they may not recommend certain candidates but you could still feel comfortable voting for that candidate. In that case you'll have to do some research and perhaps ask the question here too. NRA-ILA also publishes voter guides but perhaps not for every state-wide election.

Re: Local elections
NRA used to send me a card tailored to my district. I don't know if they still do or not.

Re: Local elections
I have a question. Do FOAC-endorsed candidate support my 80% lowers or not?

Re: Local elections
The problem with using the FOAC voters guide is in the past they had a practice of giving a "Not recommended" to any candidate that did not complete their questionnaire. Some of those candidate were incumbents with a pro gun voting record. They kind of threw good candidates under the bus.

Re: Local elections
Looking at the York County Common Pleas Judge, I was planning on voting for Gothie and Stambaugh over Smith. I was informed Smith used to be a Democrat who supported Wolf. I have not verified, but that's out there.
On her own resume I see possible signs to verify it, being on the "GLBT Committee" and "Civil and Equal Rights Committee", 9 year member of the ACLU, and she's CURRENTLY serving on the "President's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force".

Without knowing her 2A stance, I'm disagreeing with FOAC's choice here. Steve Stambaugh is a solid Conservative.
FOAC, Please correct me if I'm missing something.
Here they are in their own words and she's the ONLY one that won't commit or admit to being a Conservative. It's a little worrisome.
Gothie: He said he does not believe so.
The judicial race, he said, is ultimately a political election. Candidates for judge are allowed to attend political events.
Gothie said he*s registered as a Republican his entire life. He noted that he did not cross-file to appear on the Democratic ballot.
*Am I a conservative Republican? Yes,* Gothie said. *I have conservative beliefs. I believe in limited government. I believe in the Second Amendment * that there*s a personal, individual amendment, as described in Heller. And I don*t believe that our judges should take an expansive view of interpreting law.*
He said he thinks his political affiliation refers to his judicial characteristics.
Smith: The Canons of Judicial Conduct, she said, specifically discuss an independent, fair, honorable and impartial bench. That*s in addition to avoiding the appearance of impropriety.
Smith said she*s made it a point not to talk about her beliefs while out on the campaign trail.
She said she thinks that both parties have something to bring to the table. Everyone has an opinion that should be considered, Smith said.
*I don*t think it*s appropriate that everyone know what our personal beliefs are, because, again, those types of cases could come before us,* said Smith, who added that she wants to hear proper argument and make a just decision based on the law.
Stambaugh: *You probably saw my billboards. They say, *Conservative Republican,** Stambaugh said. *It*s on my yard signs.*
Stambaugh said he was born and raised in York County. He said he loves the nation and the principles upon which it was founded.
He said he does not believe socialism is a viable form of government. It*s been a repeated failure throughout history, he said.
*At the same time, that does not mean that I*m biased against any litigants that come before me,* Stambaugh said. *I am cross-filed. And I will be able to represent all of York County.*
If he*s elected, Stambaugh said, his primary mission will be to reach the right result in every case that comes before him.
