VH, Thanks for the offer. I'll keep you in mind. I actually found a decent barrel earlier tonight that will do just as good as the "out of stock" one I've been waiting months to come in stock.

Dave, Yeah, I've seen the clamp-ons. I don't have any issue with installing gas blocks. I did not mean for this to evolve into a "dimple or not" discussion. My (actually rhetorical) question was "what's up with the preinstalled blocks." But, nuff said on that issue. It's just how they do it.

I*m baggin* what you*re rakin*.....I*m smellin* what you*re steppin* in partner. When I first started building these rifles in around *05, AR barrel manufacturers were few- nothing like the VAST assortment today. Many years ago now, & being tired of getting a different barrel watch build, I went on an extensive research crusade. I decided to go with Ballistic Advantage & they are now my *Go To*. Years and many builds later I am 100% on board with performance from my builds.

I encourage everyone I speak to, not to use what I use.....but, rather to do their own research. That is, if you KNOW you will build more than one AR. My current primary shooter where*s a Ballistic Advantage 16* Performance Black series. They call it a *Government Tactical* profile, which is basically Medium profile.

If I remember correctly, when I built a rifle last year I used a Ballistic Advantage 14.5 that came with a pinned gas block. I think the gas block was just snugged onto the barrel and the pin was in a bag for me to install. But then that was many adult beverages ago. YMMV.
