Default Spring Gobbler - French Creek gamelands?

I live and typically hunt in SE PA, Chester and Delaware Counties for deer during archery season. I’ve got the serious bug to get out Turkey hunting, but am not certain of any good spots, certainly not near me.

I’ve heard that French Creek can be a decent spot, but haven’t hunted there and it’s been years since I’ve been up that way (used to shoot at the range before I had a few scares from people not being careful).

So, would I be wasting my time there? Plan is to try and get out one afternoon to find a roost, and then hunt the following AM.

There's turkeys around but rarely seen. No idea where they'd be or how great their numbers are.

No hunting is wasting time. Just enjoy your time out there!

But realistically it's going to be a challenge. I don't know of any good food sources that would attract turkeys in French Creek and I've spent a fair amount of time there and have never seen one.

I live near the edge of the park, they are around and seen a few times a year.

About 8 years ago an old lady gave my buddies kid a scratch caller (slate) . Kid was 12 at the time. Old lady*s husband had recently passed away, and he liked the kid, so she gave him the call. That was Friday evening around dinner-time. 0630 the next morning, he scratched that thing for the first time hunting turkey. His first scratch was entered by the biggest, angriest, jealous turkey I have ever seen. I don*t know what the *call* said to that turkey, but it could probably be loosely translated as: *He just left, and me sooo horny. Get over here quick!*

Get a call, and practice with it a little! They work.
