Default Why is PA different from NJ, MD, NY?

    I was pondering this today.

What has kept PA from implementing gun control the way NY, MD, NJ, and other states around us have?

I think the answer is obvious but maybe not.

Is it simply that we have a more favorable ratio of gun owning folks to anti-gun folks? Or is it something more nuanced?

Is it our state constitution? Our large population of hunters? The Liberty Bell? Amish made furniture?

I know there are rural areas full of gun owners in all those states with excessive gun control. Poor bastards.

So what has kept PA a decent state for a firearm enthusiast to live in over the years while other states have slipped into a never ending steaming pile of gun control?

Probably have enough of a population to, at times, counter the shithole cities. New York has a population of around 19million. Eight million of those people live in NYC. Maryland has DC turds and Baltimore. I don't know about NJ. All I could find is a state trooper was shot in 1966, and a feel-good anti-gun bill was passed in response. Seems it's only gone downhill since.

    Correct on all accounts.

That old saying about how PA is Philly on one side, Pittsburgh on the other side, and Alabama in the middle.
Is what has mostly been saving PA; so far.

NYC's population out numbers the rest of NY state.
NYC's libtard mentality is not only from your basic anti-gun city dwellers.
It's also that most of the population is immigrants from socialist countries; bringing their socialistic, anti-gun mentality with them.

And NJ is mostly just extensions, suburbs, of NYC and Philly.
AND most of those NJ suburbs of NYC and Philly are mostly populated by NYC and Philly transplants.
Who are perhaps 99.9999% anti-gun libtards.

PA has the largest rural population of any state.

Nvm- I heard that recently but looking more Texas and NC eclipses us for total # of rural dwellers.

    But not percentages.

PA is unique from it’s low population density, but high total population.

I would posit that it is because we had a pretty good gun law, the UFA, passed back in the 30s which allowed for concealed carry and provided state preemption.

We don't have stupid restrictions on carry like "no churches" or "no concerts" like other states because the basic carry law is so old.

Hmmm...every state is unique in some way but Upstate NY is very sparse while the shitty is chock full of people.

Years ago a study mentioned that one of the reasons was that Pennsylvania had dedicated game lands which had successfully encouraged gun ownership and hunting. It cited how much public land was available including state and national forests. Pa. was in the top five and the only one east of the Mississippi. It also had numbers on money spent under the Pittman Robertson Act that were impressive for PA. I have to see if I could find it again.

Even with Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is still a small town state...sofar!
This has prevented the big cities from having the majority of nfluence like New York, New Jersey, Illinois, and Maryland, to name a few.
