I often wonder, decades from now, what will we look back on and say the same about.

“I could of had all the AR15s I wanted for $600-$800! 80% lowers were only $60!”

    Probably everything.

I’ve been buying some foreign parts kits here and there that are randomly imported and sold on websites like RTG and Apex. They are typically here today, gone tomorrow, never seen again unless double or triple the price.

When I worked at Rockway sales on Rt46 in Rockaway NJ in 67 my first job I was paid with a company check, they had German mausers for $12.50, kept in a cardboard barrel with 20 or so, enfields for $15 in another barrel, Springfields for the same $15, Italian rifles among other things, P38 was $20 or so IIRC. Back then gas stations even sold them, prior to GCA, it was like walking into an infantry supply room for a bunch of different armies from different countries.

That's pretty cool, especially the Springfields.

My Dad mortgaged our first family home in 1966 for 18K... 4-bedroom, 2-story colonial in West Chester. Today, you can't buy a new car for 18K.

My first centerfire rifle was a No. 4 Mk. 1 from Boscovs West in Sinking Spring. Rifle was $79.95 plus transfer. Even had the knife style bayonet still covered in dried cosmo.

While on the subject.............we didn't have large stores in my county seat of Lock Haven. Woolworths was there but I don't remember any guns. However, in my tiny hometown 3 miles south, our town barber had the neatest place my young eyes ever saw. The place was a cluttered mass of deer and bear heads and guns for sale or display plus pictures from his camp and of fires and past floods. (He was an assistant fire chief with one of the few two-way radios given out). He sold anything firearm related and ammo plus gave you a haircut. (military style of course). Frank the Barber! Always with a cigar hanging out of his mouth!
