I actually have met the guy who hired the lawyer for that letter. Michael Z. Williamson is a fairly decent Sci-Fi writer. Known best for his Freehold series.

Decent guy, but well known for shit-posting in general.

If you like the story of a libertarian type former colony planet having to deal with a UN dominated Earth that decides they need to be forced back into the fold; he tells that story really well. I also really liked "A Long Time Until Now" where a patrol of soldiers in Afghanistan winds up getting transported 20,000 years into the past, along with other groups of people from different periods in history (Romans, Norse, etc..) and how they deal with that.

So, long way of saying, yes, if you like the subject matter, I highly recommend it.
