Default Traveling out of state - Anything I should be aware of

Vacation is getting close, we'll be leaving on Thursday headed south. Route is planned through WV, VA, TN, KY and maybe OH on the return leg. Is there anything I should be aware of for state laws that might be different than PA?

You'll have to read through the facts on each state you'll be carrying in.

www.handgunlaw.us is the best source for this. Mainly you'll want to know places off limits when carrying and whether you must inform law enforcement that you're carrying.

It sounds like you are able to avoid Maryland...good choice.

First two things that come to mind...

    1. No concealed carry while consuming alcohol in a Virginia ABC licensed establishment. Oddly, OC and consumption is fine.
    2. OH is a "must notify" state.

Thanks, that was the main thing I was looking for. The only thing I was worried about is state parks, I'll have to check as I know in some states I think it's illegal in state park areas.

Yeah, normally we'd go down that way but re-routing to avoid completely. I think we'll head out and stop at Falling Water to see some scenery there then into West Virginia.

Thanks for the tips, I don't generally drink anymore so that's not an issue. I'll keep that in mind if we come back through Ohio, I'm probably going to try and avoid or find a better route home as it's a bit of a boring drive through there.

Handgunlaw also has a state parks section for each state's page.

    Enjoy your trip!

Dont Speed,Avoid accidents, Do not get into road rage arguments,Have plenty of water and food and only stop for gas ! Discreet carry is the order of the day ! Also to mention NO stickers of pro firearms or any diversive party displayed on vehicle . Have a safe trip ! at your destination if in a 4-5 star hotel use the managers safes and only you to have access to your firearms, jewelry and also avoid going out at nightime into questionable areas .

81 can be a nitemare, they have been growing 1 mile long warehouses down Harrisburg way with the expected tractor trailer traffic. We headed for SC couple of weeks ago on a thursday 0500 morning start, took us 4 hours to make it past 3 exits. Picked up a new rand mcnally and am going to be looking for a better non interstate route.

What's with Maryland? Do they know all the PA gun owners and pull us over as soon as we cross in? Or do we just need to lock the thing in the trunk while passing through? I have regularly read this, but can remember an explanation. I am starting to consider the RV thing, and wondering what special thing need to be done in Maryland?
