    Default Makarov ?

How does 9mmX18 work for pin shoots?
My foreman is thinking of buying one for Pin shoots/SD-HD...

I am aware how it is for home/self- defense.

I think that larger rounds are considered better for pin shoots. Most people used 45's with semi-wadcutters or hollowpoints for serious pin shooting.

Other than that you can use anything to shoot at pins I suppose.

I'm no pin shooting pro, but I would think that a heavy gun with heavy, slow moving bullets would do well. A 9X18 round that hits in the exact place that a 230 grain, .45 caliber bullet does, might only wobble the pin, where the .45 would knock it over. I'm pretty sure that 625's are very popular in pin shooting because they have the necessary power, are easy to get back on target, and are quick to reload if need be.
You can never have enough horsepower or ammunition.

I'm a big Mak fan, but I think a Mak would be a poor choice for shooting at pins. Most Makarovs seem to favor 90 or 95 grain bullets. Too light for pins IMO.

I've never shot pins, but my 9X18 mak snaps up a good bit more than a PPK in .380. I've shot them side by side and the 9X18 is just not as good for followup shots.
