Default Some questions about Pitcairn-Monroeville Sportsmen's Club

I have shot IPSC there in the past and I like the club. I'm thinking of joining but I have some questions.

    1. Is their rifle range a goofy single shot only rule, or can I shoot a magazine fed rifle with a loaded magazine?

    2. Do they allow sillouette targets or is it NRA bullseye targets only on either the rifle or pistol ranges?

    3. Do I need members to vouch for me? Which shouldn't be a problem as I've met a couple of the RO's up there during IPSC if they'll remember me but I didn't see anything about it on their web site.

no such goofy rule. load your mags to capacity.

    any paper/cardboard target is fine.

    3. Do I need members to vouch for me?
no, you do not. there might be something on the website and/or membership app about sponsorship, but that is not needed anymore.

the best way to join is just to show up at a meeting. the next one is dec 10 at 7PM at the "combo building"...which is the one on the right after you enter the club, go through the gate and turn right.

I think that's the same building I'd go to when I paid my entrance fee into the IPSC matches. If I remember right there were only two buildings. One on the left at the top of the driveway and the other one further down to the right off the gravel road. So it should be easy to find.

    Thanks.

I've only shot at PMSC once (I was a member for a year for a single day) and it's awesome. The range is great in addition to the members being great people!

nineseven...it'll be great to have you as a PMSC member buddy.

lemme know when ya wanna go shooting, i'll try to make it.

(shooting before meetings is kinda hard these days, though, as it gets dark so dang early. most of my shooting will have to be relegated to weekends or the indoor range--which isn't my favorite way to shoot, but--until the days start getting longer again.)

The plan is to move into the Greensburg/Latrobe area by February 1st, so that's why I'm finally going to join. PMSC is short haul from there, but a pain in the rear to get to regularly from Johnstown. I'll have to meet up with, well not only SteveD and LRT, but also the probably 50 or so other folks from PAFOA that I know are members there... I can't wait.

I'm always glad to see people discover our club. Especially PAFOA members! Hope to see you soon NineSeven on the range!

FYI, for those of you interested in rife shooting, the first Sunday of every month is our informal CMP practice (open to the public). We set up NRA High power targets at 100 and 200 yards and fire from 3 positions (slow and rapid fire). 50 rounds plus sighter's for a total possible score of 500. Any iron sighted service rifle will work (AR, M-1, M-1A, 1903's, M1917's, SKS, AK, Mosin, etc) Every 3rd and 4th Sunday we have an even less formal CMP target shoot (members only)where new people can learn the ropes (including building your positions, sling use, sight pictures, breathing, trigger manipulation, etc.)
