Nearest (Public) 200 YD Range to Mont Co?
I've been driving to a Harrisburg SGL range.
Thanks in advance for the help.

If you're willing to go that far, why not just get a membership at Ontelaunee?

Re: Nearest (Public) 200 YD Range to Mont Co?
I recall a SGL range outside of Jim Thorpe on top of the mountain to Beaver Meadow I visited a few years ago.
Had a separate rifle side that went out to either 200 or 300 yards, seperate pistol area off to the left.
Unsure what the current situation is there but it's a quick trip up the NE Extension.

Elverson R&G club on 23 has a 200 yd range. If you don't want to get car sick and hit a few deer by taking 23 all the way, you might want to take 422 to 100 S. for couple miles, then 23 W for about 5 miles. ER&GC is on the right.
Another one, Northern Chester Co. Sportsmens Club is near Hopewell Furnace and French Creek state park. They only go out to 150 yards, but they also have a decent in door hangun range.
ETA: Oops, didn't see the word public in the title.
I believe you need to be with a member as a guest if you're not a member yourself for both clubs.Last edited by str8shooter; November 14th, 2008 at 12:02 AM. Reason: bed time.

Unfortunately not anymore. I had a friend who belonged to the ER&GC, but he stopped shooting. I loved going there with him because we never, ever saw another person when we went. It could be a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon, and the range was always empty. It has a limited membership, so I can't get in until someone else drops out. Unfortunately I didn't know that when he let his membership expire and someone else already snagged the spot.
I just started looking into the NCCSC, but I believe some folks on the forum are members there. It sounds nice, $40 / year or $50 for a family, indoor pistol range, club house, archery and trap shooting.

Langhorne Rod & Gun has a precision rifle range 100-200yds.
I am not a member, but I have been there for some shoots.

Re: Nearest (Public) 200 YD Range to Mont Co?
I need a better local option. Unfortunately, the closest club to me only goes out to 100 yards and has some pretty ridiculous (IMHO) regulations concerning in-house $upervi$ed training for the membership before they're even allowed to tinkle in the little boys' room all on their own. Option nš 2, about twice as far away, has a strict policy against anyone not strictly and proudly European in descent, and I refuse to associate with them. I know that Kimberton only goes out to 100 yards, as well, and although I have no knowledge of their facilities, I've heard that Lower Pottsgrove isn't exactly a center for "free thinkers," either.
